After Punjab, Pahlaj Nihalani now has a problem with Goa

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is at it again.

After asking for 89 cuts in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab -- and losing the case in Bombay High Court -- the Censor Board has now made a similar demand.

This time around, the CBFC, headed by Pahlaj Nihalani, has taken objection to Abhishek Jawkar’s Missing On A Weekend. They have asked for approximately 50 cuts in the film, which is a crime thriller set in Goa.

Akash Bathija (known for his role as Arjun Kapoor’s best friend in Ishaqzaade), one of the actors in the film, confirmed the news. “The Censor Board has been very harsh towards us. They want us to mute the word ‘Goa’ whenever and wherever it’s mentioned with reference to the drug mafia. The CBFC’s argument is that it shows Goa in bad light,” the actor told SpotboyE.com.

The Censor Board’s decision has postponed the movie’s release. While it has already missed the scheduled release date of June 24, hitting the theatres on July 1 also seems next to impossible now.

The makers, we hear, are planning to appeal to the CBFC once again. Will their plea fall on deaf ears? Watch this space for updates.
